Crib and More

Ummm.... we have a crib. OMG.

Daddy put it together. We took loads of pictures. No mattress yet, but it's been ordered. Is it ok that it made me freak out a little more?

It seems so REAL now. I mean, it's felt real before now but this is super-duper-oh-my-goodness-theres-a-baby-coming real.

All the "essentials" are here with the sole exception of diaper covers, and the "really need to get" list is short: dresser, breast pump, and clothing. And if we don't get a small bookcase for all of her books, we'll need to get a side table for putting stuff on top of (e.g., lamp, etc.).

I'll wait to post pictures of the crib until we get the rest of the nursery put together.

That is exciting! Can't wait to see photos!
Yay!!! I can't wait to see it.
We go get ours next week & I'm super excited.
What's your plan for diaper covers?
Not much of a plan... I've got Bummies and Thirsties on my registry, since those seem to be the type that most people are recommending. Actually, I'm really not sure what my diaper-to-cover ratio should be.... I assume that you can re-use covers as long as they are not soaked or poopy, but I'm not sure.

Any advice?! :) (please?!)
Yup, we re-use the covers until they get poopy or until the end of the day, whichever comes first. You'll go through more covers at first when the baby is pooping all the time, and then fewer once her little digestive system settles down. I'd say you want a 3:1 or 4:1 diapers:covers ratio to be safe to start off with. It'll depend on how much she poops, so that can't really be predicted. (It's hard for me to say since I used disposables right at the very beginning. I switched to cloth diapers when the girls were 6 weeks old.)

Gives me a good place to start! I'm going to order a few covers next weekend if no one has bought them for us, and play around with how I'm going to put them on too... haven't decided that either. It's definitely going to be a learning experience!
