I've started this journal to share with friends and family our trials during our baby-making process. We have been trying for 3 years now, and had three miscarriages. It has been very difficult to keep going sometimes, but we think we finally have our healthy baby!

By ultrasound, we are this far along now!

Our angels.... we miss you so much.

Our story...
I'm Mary (36). DH (38) and I have been ttc since August of 2006. I went off b/c in June of 2006. We had 3 recurrent m/c in 10 months after over a year of trying, then underwent 7 more months of fertility treatments and failures. We are finally pregnant! Newest updates are at the bottom of the page.
August 2006 to October 2007: TTC#1 "Naturally." Doc seems to think that even though I'm 33 when we start, 34 very quickly thereafter, that I'm in good health and to "try for a year. If you're not pregnant, we'll look at things again."
I got pg at the 15th cycle (14 months after starting ttc), baby had a strong HB and was measuring "on time" at 8w1d, but on Dec. 3rd, I had some bleeding and went to the ER. The doc found the baby had no heartbeat and had shrunk in size... I was having a miscarriage. I was 10 1/2 weeks along and needed a D&C. The baby's EDD was 6/28/08. We were heartbroken.
December 2007: Break from ttc
January-March 2008: Re-start ttc; "naturally" trying.
March 2008: We had a +HPT on March 16 and 17, Beta on 3/17 was 108. Beta on 3/19 was 99. Subsequent betas were 427 and 560.
We were told we were going to miscarry, but by some miracle we saw an "on time" baby at 5w5d with a normal heartbeat, but too-small sac. It was confirmed at 7w3d that the baby had died, and I started to miscarry the next day. This baby's EDD was 11/28/08.
Following my hCG levels down...
*4/15/08 hCG = 3100.
*4/22/08 hCG = 761
*4/29/08 hCG = 230
*5/6/08 hCG = 61
*5/13/08 hCG = 12
(5/14/08 AF SHOWED)
*5/19/08 Sonohystogram: Septate Uterus
*5/20/08 hCG = 0 (FINALLY!!)
*6/13/08: LP Defect diagnosed
May 2008: Not ttc
May - June 2008: Testing, diagnosis and surgery cycles.
June 2008: Septum Surgery
We're ttc with a Septate uterus (fixed with surgery), a LP defect (now being treated with Clomid) and a "borderline" FSH (9.9, not treatable). The septum is likely why our first baby died, the LP is likely why it's taking me forever to get pg and the FSH is probably why baby #2 never made it off the ground (my opinion, anyway).
July 2008: 50mg Clomid, Progesterone 7.7, BFN
August 2008: 100mg Clomid, 200mg Prometrium BID, Progesterone 28.27. BFP at 13DPO, hCG 145
Following hCG again...
*15DPO hCG 416 dt 31.5 hrs
*21DPO hCG 1924 dt 63 hrs
*23DPO hCG 2990 dt 75 hrs
*u/s 5w1d intrauterine pregnancy, no yolk sack.
*u/s 7w1d yolk sac, fetal pole measuring 6w.
*u/s 8w5d enlarged sac, no fetal pole
*10/1/08 Spotting and periodic heavy bleeding
*10/2/08 D&E; baby's EDD was 5/5/09
October 2008: No ttc.
10/17/08 Follow-up with RE.
10/31/08 AF shows (Happy Halloween)
November 2008: Clomid 100mg CD3-7. Sonohystogram at CD7 shows the septum is still resected and the uterus looks good. RE rules this out as a factor in m/c. Ovulation on CD13, Prometrium 200mg BID started on 3DPO. 7DPO Progesterone 48.9! LP 17 days (significant improvement). BFN. :(
December 2008: 100mg Clomid CD3-7 again, 200mg progesterone BID vaginally at 2DPO and beyond. Ovulated early, CD 10 or 11, 7DPO progesterone 37.3. BFN but 16 day LP.
12/27/08 -- AF shows
12/29/08: FSH level is 5.5! Nurse & I are thrilled to death. :)
January 2009: 100mg Clomid CD3-7, 7DPO progesterone 32.9. First IUI with 10.8 mil post-wash sperm. 16day LP, BFN.
1/24/09 -- AF Shows
January/February 2009: Re-started clomid 100mg CD3-7. Follicle scan 2/2/09, one follie ready, lining is 7. IUI on 2/4/09, post-wash sperm count was 13.2 mil. No Progesterone check this cycle. BFN.
2/21/09 -- AF Shows
February 2009: Bravelle CD3-7; U/s check on CD3 shows one cyst on left ovary and three on right. Small enough to get the OK. U/s check on CD7 shows nothing on the left ovary and three follies on the right, two are "ripe." Lining is only 6, however. Trigger CD7, IUI on CD9 with 43.2 mil post-wash sperm! Progesterone check on 3/9/09 and hCG "booster" shot that same day. Progesterone was 32.6, not much different from two cycles ago (despite supposedly popping out two eggs). At 13DPO, all symptoms disappear. AF shows on 3/20/09; 18 day LP.
March 2009: "Natural" cycle with OPKs since we're going to Vegas for a week and I can't make the required u/s. Ovulated a few days after we got back from Vegas, BFP on 13DPO.
April 2009: Holding our breath... the hCG doubles appropriately but my symptoms come and go. Our first ultrasound at 7 weeks shows a baby with a heartbeat! We're measuring ahead 5 days, the RE sets our due date as 12/20/09 (the due date is 12/25/09 by LMP) and releases us back to our regular OB.
May 2009: Appointment with the OB, who is very insensitive and pretty much ignores the fact I've had three miscarriages and want to be treated as a high-risk pregnancy. Wants to only see me monthly. Mid-May I have bleeding and rush to the OB for an ultrasound, where the baby is fine (heartbeat is 168) and we see movement! Baby is still measuring ahead. There is still bleeding, so we go back 5 days later and things are still ok. The OB who sees us is not our "regular" OB, but is very compassionate and we switch our care to her.
June 2009: NT scan on 6/5/09, 11w by LMP, 12w by u/s. Baby looks like a baby! Kicking, squirming, HB is 171 and NT measurement is 1mm. Tech tells me I have an anterior placenta, which just means the placenta is attached to the front of the uterus rather than the back. I'm still spotting at this appointment some but it is much less, and we start to tell everyone. June 10th appointment with the new OB goes well -- we don't do an ultrasound, but used the doppler to hear the heartbeat. Spotting stops this day.
July 2009: We get a home doppler rental and get to hear the heartbeat, it's amazing! So far things seem to be going very well. July 8th appointment was "routine" -- heartbeat was around 160, and uterus seems to be at the right size. I'm still down 3-4 pounds from pre-pregnancy weight but the doc isn't worried. AFP/Quad screen is "positive" but risks are still below average for my age. Anatomy ultrasound goes great -- all organs look good and are measuring well within normal ranges. We decline the amnio.

WE'RE HAVING A GIRL!!!!! We're both so thrilled! :)

August 2009: Appointment on the 5th goes well. Trouble's heartbeat still sounds good and my uterus is measuring on time. We ask the OB a couple of generic questions but overall it was a very routine, normal appointment. Yay!
September 2009: Appointment on the 2nd goes well. HB is in the mid-150's, and my BP is great. Weight is finally up "appropriately" and uterus is measuring right on track. Doc gives me the drink for my gestational diabetes test for next appointment. The appointment on the 30th also went well, we're measuring right on track. Still awaiting results of the GD test. Weight was up 5.5 pounds, for a total of 14.5 from pre-pregnancy. We start every-other week appointments!
October 2009: Appointment on the 15th was routine, the OB went out for a labor, so we saw the nurse practitioner. I'm up 17 pounds from pre-pregnancy weight, and my uterus is measuring on time. Trouble is head-down for the moment. I passed the gestational diabetes test "with flying colors" and my BP looks great. At the Oct. 28th appointment, up another 6 pounds (oops!) but OB is still happy with the weight gain. Everything sounds good -- apparently there is no third-trimester ultrasound unless there's a "problem," so the next time we see our little girl is when she comes out!
November 2009: On the 7th we went to an all-day childbirth preparation class, and feel very good about that -- next step is to schedule the hospital tour. Our 34-week OB appointment on the 11th was "routine" again. I'm officially up 27 pounds from pre-pregnancy weight, but OB is content with this. Heartbeat is good, and Trouble is moving around well. We're getting the nursery ready, and it's starting to sink in that this is REAL... we're going to have a baby.
Next appointment: November 25th at 3:30 pm with regular OB. GBS test that day, and then move to weekly appointments. Better pack my labor bag!
My prayer.....
Matthew 7:7-11
"Ask, and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.
Is there anyone among you who, if your child asks for bread, will give a stone? Or if the child asks for a fish, will give a snake? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!"
